  • CC25 Anchor

Any suggestions on the best anchor for a CC25 for use inshore and moderate offshore. I'll be using the anchor system mostly in sand with a factory Lewmar windlass and 15' of chain. Also, how much line does the anchor locker hold and what is the preferred diameter?

    Thanks,

    Dave

    anchor & rode

    Seamoor,

I'm primarily an inshore fisherman. My 25' CC has the anchor windlass using a Fortress danforth style anchor. There's 200 ft of rope, 15' of chain. I'm not sure I can quote reliably the diameter of the rope. I had the dealer install the rode, anchor and chain. The windlass was factory installed.

Interesting, I would not have ordered the windlass but now that I've used it, I don't know how I did without it. Ahh, I know. I was younger when I used to pull on that anchor, so it didn't matter .

Most of my anchoring is in the Chesapeake Bay in depths of around 40-50'.

Not sure of the total capacity of the locker.

Call Mac at the factory if you need more detailed specs.

      Thanks for the advice

Yeah, I used to haul the anchor by hand. I also used to move up forward to the bow with relative ease. I'm 58 now, and those things seem unreasonable when I could push a button. Getting lazy? You bet. Brittle too.
I appreciate the advice and will look into a similiar setup as the boat is coming from the factory with a built in windlass.
