  • Life Jacket Storage

Mac made me some bars to match the grabrail on the hard top so I could make life jacket storage. I mounted them and had my canvas guy make the netting under them. I was not happy with his job but it works fine.

    Life Jacket Storage

Tom: You shared a couple of pictures regarding life jacket storage back in 2005 (thread dated 7/26/05). I'm looking to do something similar. Would you go the same way? If so, I'll ask CC to make some up for me. You mentioned you didn't like one aspect, the canvas. Separately, you may recall I asked for some help on liferafts awhile back; I went down the same path you did. All the best, John

I still like the idea of the storage. I also like the netting that my canvas guy did but he did a lousy job on the install. I don't think I would change anything if I redid it. I keep me life jackets and throw ring in there. Also a ditch bag if I ever get to making one up. I have the bag but need to fill it. It is a convient spot and everyone knows where the stuff is if needed.

I'm not sure if Mac still has the size but I can get it for you if I ever get time to get to the boat.

Tom: Thanks for the update. Will inquire of CC directly, so no need to carry any more water than you've already done. Went to a safety class this past weekend...interesting point made on loss of life w/ MOB is not tracking or getting back to the MOB, it's getting them back aboard before hypothermia makes the MOB inert/dead weight...have an idea for a block and tackle that can be used w/ a life sling, a carabiner clipped to the tower w/ a pre-cut wrap around sling, then out the the transom door for retrieval...once I figure out, will send along a picture. Have to laugh a little though....after the first 45 minutes of the class, well into all the things that can go wrong, I reflected that I might as well leave the boat in the yard and put a plastic pool under it...John
