I am new to the site, but thought I could offer a simple up-grade to your Carolina Classic boat. I have not seen one of these boats, or an Albemarle that has the helm steering unit bonded. If the aluminum housing is not bonded it will burn through and leak(the upper station seems to fail first, around the area that contacts the console). If you have sterndrive(s) this is a bad day as you now have no way to steer it.
For a few buck make a ground/bond wire that goes from the back of the Hynautic helm housing to your bonding system.
This may be the only boat upgrade that is both cheap and easy,
