  • Center rigger

Just bought a center rigger for my 28 cc, no tower. I was going to attach it to my top with a backing plate. You think that's strong enough or should I try to get two bolts thru the support bars? The footprint of the holder is 3"x 5"

Thru bolt it with the backing plate will be sufficient. 4 - 1/4" bolts prefered

Thanks for the reply. Do you have center rigger on your boat? I bought a 12 foot lee center rigger. Should the backing plate be bigger then the holders footprint and how thick should the plate be. You help is appreciated.

        Center Rigger

        Petty Cash,
Send me your e-mail and I will forward you a picture of the center rigger I placed on my 25. I cannot figure out how to down size the picture to place on the forum. I used a backing plate and it has worked out jut fine, been on for 3 years now with out a problem.

I put a Taco on our 28 (no tower) and just used a backing plate. I used some scap 3/8 aluminum and it has worked out very well and I didn't have to drill into the support structure. If I get a chance I will take a pic or you can come over and take a look.

Thanks for the reply. I'm just trying to make sure that I do it right so I don't have any problems. We have to get out one day on my boat. Once we get some good canyon reports I'll give you a call.

That would be great, at the very least let me know when you are headed out and we can stay in touch out there. The way the center rigger came out looks nice and it's very sturdy, just not sure how the Lee's mounting bracket looks.
