  • Black streaks on hull

I am thinking of adding a piece of clear plastic between the rub rail and the boat hull so that when the rain water runs down from my bow down the gunnel it does not leave a black streak down the side of my hull. When I was down at the Canyon Club marina last year I noticed that alot of the sportfishing boats had this piece of plastic.

The streaks are annoying but your proposal sounds like a huge job if I understand it. I wonder if bedding the rubrail in black sealant would help it seems the stains come from water running under the rubrail vs over the top?

I get those stains to on my 28. I think a lot of that is due to the trash they burn at the Coast Guard Station in Cape May. It does get annoying but a good wax job in the spring makes it easy to remove during the season.
