  • Rub Rail Cleaning

I've been trying a lot of things from sanding to compounding etc. to clean the whitish weathering on the rub rail surface. I tried some acetone today and it cleans it right up. I think it actually slightly removes the top surface of the rail material and leaves a nice black finish.

Try to find a turtle wax product called black chrome . I just did mine the other day . It worked great on black plastic car bumpers so I tried it on the boat and it works great . It cleans , brings back the black and leaves a wax finish .

I just cleaned the cc25 rub rail. I tried polishes, compounds, sandpaper and finally tried Acetone. the plastic insert had a white film on it that I couldn't seem to get off. The Acetone seemed to remove the top layer and left a fairly clean black finish. It didn't just jump off but had to be rubbed a fair amount. I later saw that recommended on another forum.

If You're Speaking about the black rub rail use medium grade bronze wool and woody wax. cleans it up wonderfully.
