My partner and I bought a used 1995 CC 28 last year with Merc 7.4s. The engines are in good condition. We are getting between 1.2 and 1.4 GPM depending on sea conditions and load (based on the floscan). We are cruising at about 31- 3200 RPMs and averaging around 22-23 MPH. Does anyone else run a configuration like this and if so what do your numbers look like. We are planning on having the props redone this year and hopefully that will help a little. Any other sugestions on how to improve speed and or economy will be appreciated.

Is the boat a straight inboard or jackshaft. If it is a inboard, one of the best changes you can make is to put ACME props on. I have heard of speed increases of up to 3 kts with these. If it is jackshaft, I can't help.
Someone on the board is having a set made up for his 28 diesel. Maybe he will chime in.Life is to short for an ugly boat

Is there any more info on the ACME props? For example any change in pitch or cup from the stock models?Comment
