mpg for a 8.1

Just wanted to know the mpg for a 8.1 on a 25 cc. Doug.

I was told it would be about 1.7 to 1.8 at cruise depending on how you run it. You might get more by not running very hard. I don't think you could ever recover the extra cost of a diesel if you are just running it on a recreational basis.

Sounds about right. At 3600 rpm I'm right around 30 knots (gps) and about 18 gph (estimate based on printed data). This is for a jackshaft boat with C5 propset. Thats about 1.9 statue miles/gal. I could probably do better if I slowed down but what fun is that

if I can get 1.9 that would be better than my 130 hp carbed outboard. I would be thrilled!
