Had a problem with port engine not keeping up with starboard and same engine unable to go over 1800 rpm. These are 250 B cummins diesels. Problem turned out to be fuel shut off. Brackett holding shut off had nearly fallen off engine, Two of three bolts missing and third holding by a thread. Also, fuel pump backet on good engine had cracked and one of the injectors was leaking. Please note that Cummins will warrantee fuel injectors on cc28. Has anyone else had this problem?

i had the same problem with the bracket on my starboard engine , it cracked and bolts broke off , it cracked on the weld . i was bringing my boat back from cape hatteras to virginia in 3-4 ' seas and everytime i took a hard swell the engine would shut down , the plunger on the stop seloniod would shut down . the bracket is not expensive . i have learned with these engines that you have to check things constantly due to the vibration . everyone keeps telling me they will run for ever , but my experience is they are expensive to maintain because little repairs like this turn into big repairs . i keep thinking i push the boat to hard but it seems others have the same problems.28 Classic - Brown Eyed Girls

Some people are also using Howe's "Meaner Power Cleaner" additive. Apparently it increases fuel lubricity and helps ease some of the injector related issues in the 4Bs.
