    Moving the thread from ask Mac to a more generic forum.

    With my old KAMD 42 inboards I ran

    22 knots/ 3100 RPM, half full - 18 GPH
    20 knots/3100 RPM, full w/ canyon ice and crew load

    24 knots/3300 RPM half full - 20 GPH
    22 knots/3300 RPM canyon load

    25 knots 3400 RPM half full - 20 GPH
    23 knots 3400 RPM canyon load

    30 knots 3800 WOT/ half full
    26-27 knots 36-2700 RPM WOT/canyon load

    Needless to say I was overloading the engines at full canyon load.

    I'm repowering w/ D4-260's this winter and hoping for canyon cruise of 25-26 knots, lightly loaded cruise of 29 knots.

    What was the HP of the old KAMD 42. Just curious on the difference.

      KAMD 42's - 230 HP

      Old style Volvo mechanical engines, 2 valve, mechanical fuel pump, 1 injection per 4 stroke cycle. They are adaquate for the CC28 as a day boat; inadaquate for using it as an offshore boat.

      The 42's turned into the 43's (bug fixes); then grwe to the KAMD 44's(260 HP, electronic control; then grew further and finally to thr KAMD 300s (285 HP, electronic control).

      By all reports the 300's are great engines with all of the previous KAMD issues resolved.

          I really don't remember cause I bought the boat new in 04 with the 300's, and all my info is on the boat, but what I recall is 3100 rpm 27-28knts loaded 20gph, half loaded speed increased to about 30knts same rpm, when I recommision 4/10 if your still interested I'll repost and get better numbers for you. I installed a set of flo scans 7000
