    Well, here's what I have. 25' gasser. The volt meter started showing less than 12 volts while on the way back in on my last trip. At the dock, put a meter on the alternator. 14.2 volts coming out. Next put the leads on each battery. Both showed 13 volts at idle. Disconnected leads and load checked each battery. They're fine. Re-connected everything and put the meter on the voltmeter leads and it read 12.5 volts at idle at the dock.

    I'm thinking a bad ground.

    Thoughts?

    I have a 28 deisel same situation, however my engine shut down, and the volt meter was jumping around... tested all the connection in the dash fine. Went into the engine hatch and and tightened all my connetions and grounds... problem solved

      I can't think of anything else it would be. I'm going to spend some time with the tools tightening everything.

        I wouldn't rule out a faulty guage. I've had to replace every single Volvo guage on my 25.

          Took mine out, made some jumpers, and it shows just under 14 volts on my GMC pickup. Same as the dash volt meter. I'm going to play with it later this week.
