  • Outdrive Prop Selection Alum/Stainless

Does anyone know the advantages of using Alum vs. Stainless props on 28' W/KAMD43s. I keep mine in the salt water and am going to have to replace the alum B6s soon. I know the drive and props are now similar metals and I dont know if it would cause more significant degradation of the drive with dissimilar props. Any help would be appreciated.

I kept my Albemarle w/Volvo outdrive in saltwater. Went through several sets of aluminum props (electrolysis/cavitation damage) before switching to stainless steel. The SS worked fine, no more electrolysis and less cavitation damage. SS props are a lot heavier, check your thrust bearings more often.
