  • Fuel filter

Im getting ready to change my fuel/water separator. Is there a procedure to follow to relieve the fuel pressure on a 1998 7.4GI gas motor, or can it just be unscrewed. Thanks

It can just be unscrewed to replace the filter. A bit of gasoline may spill over but it should be minimal. I used to use a large zip-lock bag "condom-ed" over the filter to capture the gas so it didn't end up in the bilge.

Loosen with a wrench then slip a ziplock bag over it and then take off.
