  • 28 w/cummins 250's prop Q's

I was in A.C yesterday and had a wonderful conversation with Mac. What a gentleman!

I asked him about "fine tuning" props as I seem to keep my boat rather heavy (3-4 men, 400# ice, raft, 12 offshore setups...). My issue is that the boat is sluggish to plane and has considerable bow rise. I am swinging 17x20.5 4 blade hi torq. Cruise loaded, 2600 24 kt wide open, 3020 28.5 kt.

Anyone running 18"? ( my boat is an '01 w/prop pockets)

    Anyone with custom wheels?

    Thanks,

    Chris

Did Mac have any suggestions? I know on the newer boats he only uses ACME wheels. He said that they make a big difference.

      Chris,

I think I was also with Mac when he was speaking with you. He had the discussion on the cavitaion with the rudders and the pockets and very high speeds. He did mention that the ACME props have made a big difference and even added a few knots with the same size as the Michigan wheels.

          Capt. B,

Yes, that was me with Mac at the show. He did mention that the Acme wheels made a world of difference on the 35. I was just wondering if there was anyone out there running something different.

I was dissapointed when Mac told me that Acme was not making a 17 or 18" wheel but just out of curiosity I emailed Acme. Guess what, they do not make or should I say they didn't make 17's until I called and asked for them.

I spoke to Bill Weeks at Acme ang they are going to CNC machine me a set of 17x20's out of a 19" mold. I am very excited!!

This should drasticly improve my mid range performance without effecting my cruise or top end.

Now that is the ultimate customer service. Let us know how they work.

Maybe I need to start a section for suppliers with great customer relations.

            Give me some ideas.
