  • Fuel Tank Problems

I am considering buying a 95 28'. It was repowered from gas engines to Yanmar diesels. The seller tells me that the side fuel tanks do not work and that the tanks need to be replumbed so that the fuel lines to the pump enter the tanks at a lower point. Someone else has suggested that replacing the pump may work. Has anyone experienced similar problems and know of the right solution

I don't have a 28 but I think they are probably plumbed the same as my 32. Those tanks are just storage tanks and the fuel needs to be pumped down to the main tank to be used. I think those pumps you are talking about are just transfer pumps and should pump those saddle tanks dry.

Your best bet is to post in the Ask Mac section or if you are in a hurry, give Mac a call directly. He will give you the right answer.

Thanks for the information. I contacted Mac and he gave me some great advise. Good thing I contacted him as he told me that any fitting below the top of the tank is not legal.
