  • Block Heaters

I added block heaters just before thanksgiving to keep stuff from freezing this time of the year. It brings the blocks up to 100 deg and keeps the engine room very warm so I don't have to worry about all the other systems from freezing. Makes start up much easier also.

    Anyone else try them?

    Tom,

Are those heaters a Cummins part or are they a generic brand? Do they install in a plug in the block or some other way? I was thinking about doing the same but just have not looked into the product or made the time.

Are you still in the water? If so when are we doing a blackfish run!!

I just hauled the boat this past weekend so no Blackfish.

The heaters were a cummins part and went into the side of the block. There was a pipe plug that had to be removed. Not sure if it is the same on yours. These have a 4' lead with a plug. One reached the outlet in the engine room but I need to add a second one for the starboard engine so I don't have to use a extension.

I will just put that on the list with the 800 other things I need to do.

        Hey Tom,

The only problem with that list of 800 things to do is by the time you get it whittled down to about a dozen, one of the things becomes "shop for new boat".

Usually when you get the boat just the way you want it, you want a new one. That works for me but I think tha admiral will have other plans.
