  • throttle cable bracket

Well coming back in today the bracket that supports the throttle cable on the starboard motor snapped in two. Thankfully I was only about 8 miles from the slip. I finally got it off, after climbimg all over hot engines in the 90 degree heat. Not the best design in the world it is very long and only spot welded in a few places I suspect constant vibration and the leverage of pulling on it from top did it in. Will try to locate a new one tomorrow and get back in business quick, the yellow fin are here.

I broke two cables on those 42's

I agree there was a lot for force being applied to both the cable and bracket. If you ever break a cable - 300# fishing wire and a couple of crimps will get you home!

Yesterday, we decided to make a long run offshore the forecast was great the reports of tuna had us excited. About 30 miles into a 50 mile run the port engine slowly starting losing RPMs? A quick look under the hatch and sure enough I had broken another throttle cable bracket. some wire and tie wraps saved the day and we continued on. This is difficult to believe, I have experienced breaking both of these suckers in two weeks. I am going to find a better way to make a connection for the throttle cables. The good news is it was a 10 of a day and we got our limit of both yellow and blue fin.
