  • Yanmar 315 Zincs

I have a 2007 25 with the 6lp Yanmar. I have purchased from the Yanmar dealer 5 zinks. I see where all 5 go. I have been reading in some other forums that there are possibly six to replace.

With the ZF gear, could there be an additional (7th) one there also?

I have the service manuals, but as others may have also seen they can be rather sparse on info and detail.

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

I just replaced my 5 zincs and I know not of a sixth. How is the boat running.? Have you enough hours to quote performance. I have about 510 hours on my 06 25 yanmar with 260 hours on my new engine. I love this boat but performance is far short of my expectations. What have you been seeing at cruise speed and are you finding that you have to run with tabs down to get on plane and hit your cruise speed? I am usually running with 4-5 guys and 60 lbs of ice with tanks filled as well. My bottom is painted and there is the usual amt. of growth.

The 6th. zinc is in the fuel oil cooler (forward of the fuel filter). There are not any zincs in my gear oil coolers......but there will be when it comes time to replace them (5 years). The bottom/aft zinc on the heat exchanger is a real tight fit. I'm going to change it out from 1 1/4" to 1" and see if that makes it any easier.

        5 or 6?

this is why I am puzzled. I see only 5 including the zinc in the piping at the very front of the engine. are there 5 on the block and an additional 1 on the piping?

According the Kieth P. there is a total of 5.

If there are 6, including the forward piping, what is the location of the other 5on the block? If I exclude the piping, I only can find 4.

          One on the intercooler (larger).

          Two on the oil cooler.

Two on the heat exchanger/freshwater cooler.

          One on the fuel cooler.
