Mercury Optimax
Im planning a 200hp Mercury Optimax jetdrive for my 22ft Runabouts. Does anyone have any experience with this engine?? Problems??Reliabiity??

I had a walkaround with a optimax before my cc I had it for 6 yearsa and it never gave me a problem. The only thing I rember was that when I use to do the tune up the spark plgs were about 40 bucks eachComment

Thank you both. Reel, have u ever had any problem with the stater? it seems few people who used the optimax had to replace them quite often...

No i never had any problem at all I would change the impellor every year and the water pump every other year never had any problem with the starter I think I had about 800 hrs in the motor when I sold the boat. My buddy has the new VERADOS they are nice but too many sensors to go bad.Comment
