    Which levers?
    Gear or throttle?
If gear, it might be the neutral safety switch
Life is to short for an ugly boat

      Next time it doesn't go

turn the key on; and jumper the 2 wires (red/yellow?? and something else) on top of the gear with a screwdriver. If it starts; its the neutral safety switch; if not try jumpering the starter wires; if it cranks; then its the starter solenoid. I ran a 42 for 2 weeks w. a screwdriver as a starter

If you have the KAMD's with electronic throttle, that is most likely where your issue is. Check and see if when you hold the key button if the neutral light is coming on. If not, that would cause it not to start. On the newer Carolina's there is a neutral safety switch right in the throttle. On the older ones (2003 and older?) it is in the computer.

One thing we tried is to switch the wires that run from the throttle to the engines. If you were originally having a problem on the port side and now it is on the starboard engine, it tells you it is in the throttle. Just watch, because if you use it is to start the boat, your port throttle is now running the starboard engine, which is dangerous.

THe other thing that seemed to work, but we can't explain why is pulling the throttle wire and spraying CRC onto the connections.

We have been having the same problem, but it seems to be corrected.

Went to start up Sunday morn with wife and kids on board and all the gear. Stbd motor fires right up, not a thing with the Port motor. I had been battling some electrical issues recently and thought that is where my problem must be. After about 4 hours of tinkering I notice a pair of yellow/red striped wires connected to the ignition switch matches a pair of yellow/ red stripe wires on the shift mechanism under the port fish box. I disconnect the wires from under the fish box and connect them together. Motor fired right up. Ah Ha, I found the nuetral safety switch and it was failed. I had also noticed a lack of feel on the port shifter as to the neutral position. I'm guessing the switch is stuck in and doesn't ride into the neutral notch on the cam roller in the shift mechanism. At least all my connections involved with my electrical system are cleaned, tight, and have dielectic grease on them now. All that is left is to call the factory and order a new switch.

On my boat, 330 cummins with hydraulic controls, the neutral safety switch is located adjacent to the shift slave under the fish boxes, one under each box. It is a little black piece with three blade connectors, one blade has no wire. When you lift the box it is located under the cockpit floor towards the centerline side. If you have electronic controls someone else may have the location of the switch for you. I ordered the new one from Kieth yesterday, $16.

                Fixed

Thanks again, loose wire at the switch on top of the transmission, soon as I wiggled it motor would start. Removed screw sanded and wd40 new washers and screws, ready to go again.
