  • 4:4 Diagnostic error on Bridge w/ port engine

I have a Carolina 28 with 1999 Volvo KAMD44P's. Does anyone know of any resolutions to a 4:4 diagnostic error on the tower bridge? I have a second set of bridge controls on my KAMD44P twins. It seems that once on the bridge and underway, after about 5 minutes the port engine drops to 1000 RPMs no matter where my throttle is at and a 4:4 diagnostic error occors. It gets locked in FWD at 1000 until I shut down the engine.

I have had no problems for 4 years. I tried resetting the EDC throttle control, resetting EDC codes. I don't see any section where there are loose cables/connections. Still no luck.

I'm ready to call Volvo if no one has a solution for me.

Thanks to anyone who can help ....

Did you check your manuel to see what the code is?

I have the same engines in my 2002. My manual does not have a code of 4:4 but it does have a code of 4:5. Could it be a 4:5?

If so, it reads, " code 4:5, Alpha Solenoid"

"Cause: Faulty signal from the control module for the Alpha Soleniod in the fuel injection pump."

      "Consequence: Engine Power is reduced"

"Corrective Action: Check the injection pump and the control module connections, Erase the diagnostic trouble code (DTC), start the engine, contact an authorized workshop if the fault persists."

I don't have the manual because I am not at the boat today, but the code has to do with an electrical wiring issue. The manual tells you to reset the EDC throttle controls, check for any loose connections, and erase the diagnostic code.

My manual does have a 4:4 error code. It does not have to do with the solenoid and is not a fuel issue according to the manual.

Still no luck after following the instructions. After more than 5 attempts ....

          SORRY 6:4 Diagnostic Error

I'm Sorry but I have my Log Book at home and it is in fact a 6:4 diagnostic error. The manual states to recalibrate the EDC control and Erase the EDC

Sorry for the wrong error code everyone .....
