  • Replacing the battery charger

what is the current charger in the 28? Is it still a 20 Amp single bank?

What's involved in replacing one; 3 120 AC connections and 3 12 V connections at the charger or do I have to go inside the engine room electrical box?

Cheap is good here - I have no AC, no heat, no hot water, rarely plug the boat in and leave the main off when I am not running it.

My boat has a C-Charger 5000 series. You can google charles marine group and see the specs and pictures. I think its a 20 amp. On the specs it shows on the back of the charger 3 wires for positives and one neg for a 3 battery bank and ac goes to breaker panel min size 10 amp.
    Hope this helps.

      Anyone done this?

My yard just quoted 480$ for that charger + 2.5 hr's labor.

Same charger sells all over the internet for 280$....nuf said.

If you call the factory you might even do better than that.
