  • Sea strainers on Cruisair AC units?

    Hi:

Have a '96 28'CC with Cruisair AC/Heat unit....I have been having issues recently with the unit working and then shutting itself down as water stops pumping through it....I blow the hose out with fresh water, assuming something is getting clogged in the intake.....works for awhile and then does it again....

I have been unsuccessful in locating the sea strainer for the AC unit....I found where the thru-hull fitting is located (in front of the port engine), but all there is a seacock and no strainer??

I can't imagine them putting in an AC unit without a strainer, but then again I've learned to never assume.....

Anyone out there that can punt me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi,

I had problem with pump for the AC unit too.

Have you checked the impeller in the pump? The pump is under the stairs leading into the cabin.

The pump will turn off when the thermostat is satisfied and the blower motor will continue to run. That may be your issue. If not, on my 01 28 the thru hull had a Sen-Dur strainer installed (same as the genny) which was located under the cabin step.
