Happy New Year all. Just discovered this forum & signed up. I've owned 3 boats built by Mac & have a great deal of brand loyalty to his product. My present boat is a 1997 25' w/ KAMD42P diesel power. In 2003, I had the boat pretty much reconditioned by Layton's Boatworks & I'd challenge most anyone to believe it's an 8 year old vessel. I'm enjoying it now fishing for rockfish (stripers) off the VA/NC coast. I'm hoping to upgrade to a 28 or a 32 once my kids are educated (less than 2 years to go).

        Another happy Layton's customer

They did my repower last winter and I continue to be 100% pleased with the work. They insisted on buffing out my boat as part of the work and I concur - I too have an 8 year old boa t which they made look new!

Visited the Carolina Classic plant this afternoon with my son, Scott. My boat is at Layton's getting a new Yanmar 315 installed along with a new Volvo outdrive. At any rate, this expenditure has put my upgrading to a new 28 or 32 off another couple of seasons. I went over to the plant & without an appointment or any advance notice spent about 2 hours (bear in mind this was a Friday after 2pm) with Mac talking about boats & engines & was quickly reminded why I'm so loyal to his brand. He's a heckuva resource for all of us on here.
