  • Thru bolt or not??

I am planning on installing some 110v halogen flood lights on the underside of the tower platform on the 32. The lights weigh about 5# each and have 4 locations for fasteners. Do I need to thru bolt these or is there enough "meat" in the top for screw mounting only?

    Thanks,

    Chris

I would say to through bolt them. That glass is only 1/8 to 3/16 thick max with a honeycomb core. That is the lower platform which is what I think you are talking about.

I would through-bolt and seal the holes with 4200 (which will come off if need be) to keep water from working it's way through the holes and creating 'rust drips' from crevice corrosion.

5#s static is not much, but on an offshore boat it's a different story.
