  • What type of Stain is on teak?

    I have a 2004 28cc the head door has some scraches on the vener like if the dealer tried to use steel wool or an orbit sander how can i redo or tuch it up what type of stain was used in the boat?
    GO DEEP!!!!! TAKE A KID FISHING......

    Mac uses the clear (natural) watco oil finish on the teak. If it has swirles from an orbital, use 180 grit by hand with the grain to get them out. Be careful not to go through the veneer and then re oil. You can also try fine steel wool with oil to get the scratches out.

      Thanks for the info i will try to find the oil and try the fine steel wool first. on 7/1/06 i thought i herd you on the vhs at the tip. next time i will pass on info on the fish. thanks for the reply

        I would recommend trying to find stainless steelwool. If strands of regular steelwool are left behind they can leave rust stains from the saltwater. They make sanding sponges or scotch brite pads that work great.
