  • Looking to become a 25 CC owner, need help

Hey guys, great site, I'm glad I found it. I have been a big fan of the CC line ever since I saw them. I am now in a place where I can buy one. I am looking used 25, probably in gas due to cost. Are there any engines or year models I need to avoid? I will be in the 50 to 65 thousand price range, and could use some advice.

Not sure if some engines are worse than others but the problem was with the vortec engines. The valve timing was changed in these which caused the problem There have been several changes to the exhaust to help with the ingestion. Your best bet is to call Mac when you find a boat and talk to him about which change is on that particular boat. If I recall. there have been about 4 changes.
Life is to short for an ugly boat

One of my dockmates owns a 2001 25 w/ KAMD43 diesel engine. He wants to sell it ASAP as he's purchased a 28'. I think he'd let it go for a bit over $60,000. I feel this is a good buy on a diesel boat w/ less than 500 operating hours. Feel free to phone me if you want additional info.

I would avoid the CC-25 with Volvo outdrive.

92 feet down - you can't leave a sniper shot like that without details. Why should the Volvo drive be avoided?

            According to his previous posts...
His boat sank because the volvo outdrive fell off.

                It just fell off???

Also guys, I'm really intersted in this boat. All these stories of engine problem is very bothersome. I'd love to hear from you guys with no problems and what engines you have

Three of the six bolts that mount the outdrive to the stern of the boat snapped. It was a 2000 CC-25, never repowered. Had a KAMD43, & the dealer we bought the boat from serviced the outdrive a year b4 the boat sank. We were weekend warriors only, not a lot of hours on the boat. If you get a 25 with Volvo guts good luck, you'll need it.

                    Drive

I never had any problems with my drive but I heard about the bolt issue before. My 25 suffered from water ingestion and I was given a new 8.1 which was great but even they have water problems.

I recently noticed blisters on the bottom of my 28 near the tabs, REAL disappointing to say the least.. I hear that Mac is using a barrier coat now, I WONDER WHY?????

                        CC25 owner

I own a 94cc25 and love it..I bought it used with a 94 volvo 454 and volvo outdrive with 800 hours.I had to replace the engine due to water ingestion after about 100 hours of me owning it.... they say because i had a long idle in my creek that was why I experienced the problem..I repowered with a 8.1 crusader gas fresh water cooled. It is now the most perfect fishing machine you could own for its size. it performs like it should now... If you have any questions I will be glad to answer any you have........Good luck....

What does it cost to repower one like that? Were you able to use the same outdrive?

                            Repower

Chris, The motor itself was about 13000 and the jackshaft conversion kit was around 1000 and all the other bs was around 500...In the end i had about 16000 in the whole repower. I spoke to keith and mac about the outdrive and they both said it would be fine to keep the old one......Brent

                              25 CC

                              Outcast,

I have a 2003 25 CC with a Volvo 300 hp diesel and have been very pleased with the boat. I have over 500 hrs with two years of use on the boat and have been able to fish any day that the CC 28 fish from our local marina. Service from my dealer has been excelent and I am pleased with the product. My dealer has taken care of all minor issues resulting in not having having to call the factory with issues or questions. The boat trailers well, I have taken it to OI and HI several times from Wachapreague. Speed and fuel burn has been very impressive. On decent days with four men and full gear for off shore fishing the boat will cruise at 27-28 knots and burn 12-13 gph. No boat is perfect for every type of fishing, however for fishing the Mid Atlantic I am very pleased with my purchase and would recomend it to anyone.
