  • New Top Speed

I'm so excited about my new top speed that I have to share it with you guys.

I just hit 40.1 mph (measured by GPS) in flat water and no wind. I had a decent amount of cargo aboard, my girfriend and about 150 gal of fuel.

I'm still using original gasser and sterndrive. I few things I did in off season are soda blast and new bottom paint (epoxy and ablative layers). Rebuilt carb (rochester quadrajet). New duoprops.

The funny thing is I feel like the ride is even nicer at high speeds.

        New Top Speed!

Since I've been working on possible overheat I ran the boat again this evening.
One person, lightly loaded, 150+ gal fuel.. very light chop. Water (river) temp 84.
WOT needle pushes 4600 rpm - on the gps 42.3 mph with light wind at my back.

and I know what you mean about how well she rides fast.

at 4000rpm held a very steady 35 mph on the gps.
Most importantly, even at WOT temp never went over 170.. most of the run at 160.

I used B4's which where OE.

42 sounds great. I think I'll let you hold the record on that one, I'm not sure how often I want to push my motor, but its fun to check it out every once in a while.

I'm still very excited about how fast these 25's are!

I have a 25 with a Volvo D6. It will top out at 36 knots at 3500 rmp and cruise at 27 knots at 2900 rpm. It get about 2.25 to 2.75 mpg at cruising speed depending on sea conditions. Love it!

              D-6

What year is your 25 with the D-6? Inboard or Jackshaft? Are your cruise numbers with or without a load?

The hull is a 1998. The D6 310 was installed in 2005. It does have a jackshaft and is turning G6 duoprops. The 27 knot cruise is 2/3 fuel and loaded with tackle, coolers and 4 people in salt water. Top WOT speed was 36.4 knots with 1/4 fuel, little tackle and just me on the boat. This was in the river and I don't remember if I was running with the current or against it. The bottom is painted. It's a little rough but no growth since it's rack stored.

                  d-6

Wow - I wish I could get 27 kts at 2900 with folks and coolers etc. What you have sounds like a great setup.
I average 22kts at 3400 going fishing. jd
