  • repowering 28cc

instead of buying a new one , I would like to buy a 1994-1996 28cc and repower with new diesel inboard engine with some other items. can jackshaft boat turn in to diesel? or I should look only diesel ones. Any recomendation ? where should I repover the boat ? I live in Virginia beach, and if anyone done it before any estimates? The carolina seems to have the best hull , does the hull changed since 1994, they all look to same to me.

    Thanks,
    Enrico

    I did this

I recommend you talk w/. Mac 1st about your needs and engine selection; then do the repower with Layton Boatworks right next door to the factory.

I ended up with the D4-260's and am pleased; other options are Yanmar 315's.

I am not sure if you can shoehorn the D6's or the Cummin's 330's into old style engine rooms.

The Layton's redid my running gear layout as part of the repower which allows me to swing an 18 X 26 prop as opposed to the old 17 X 23's. Strut, shaft and rudder were brought up to current spec's as part of the repower.
