A silly little 6" purple tuna clone on the long starboard rigger.
6:18 AM, Hydrographer Canyon, about 89 miles SE of Nantucket. We had been getting a steady pick of yellows on the warm side and albies on the cold side of a 74 -> 72 degree break that corresponded with the west wall of the canyon since 1st light.
I was up in the tower and I called the strike about 30 seconds before it happened as I could see nervous water up ahead. 45 minutes for the angler standup on a 50W. He also does giant bluefin and made short work of the eyeball. 67" long, 49" girth which works out to 201 pounds by the (Length * girth^2)/800 rule.
Easily 30 or 40 10-12" squid came out of its belly.
