Has the pleasure of fishing with Keith Privott on my partners (Tres Swann) 28CC Gabby Girl. We were fishing the Virginia Beach Tuna Tournament. Fished Sunday and couldn't buy a tuna it was slow up and down the coast. Highlight was hookin a 300-400 lb Blue Marlin that hit the short rigger 45 mins after lines in. I saw him come in from the tower and Keith saw him from the deck he was hooked good and of course on a regular 50 our smallest reel. Put on a great show dancing off to the horizon tail walking across the spread and grey hounding fast. Keith had the rod and could do nothing but hold on we couldn't back down with all the Tuna **** in the water Planer's WWWWWb's so we turned and gave chase Tres got it up on plane and chased at an angle we got line back quickly and when it came tight the fish must have beelined towards the boat after the long run and came out the other side cause the line was under the boat he made one more run that snapped the line in the running gear.
The rest of the day was spent picking grass of our lines and finally got 6 nice dolphin up to 16 lbs in the last hour. That boat sure raises the bills.
