  • Switlik for sale

I’m selling a 2000 Switlik 6man life raft. In a canister with a cradle and hydro release. It was too big for my 25CC. Any one interested? I’m located in Bergen County NJ. Needs to be recertified.

      Switlik

The Switlik life raft I’m selling is a Coast Guard approved Coastal MK-II-6 man unit originally purchased in January 99 and installed that spring. . The unit has the following optional factory installed items, fiberglass container, aluminum cradle, hydrostatic release, inflatable floor, water, and emergency rations. The unit needs recertification. Today’s cost would be in the neighborhood of $ 5250.00 The approximate weight of the raft is 150 Lbs. Attached are two pictures I was able to find. One shows the raft on the hard top and the second location was on the foredeck between the hatch and anchor locker. I removed the raft last year and am now purchasing a 4-man unit in a valise which I’ll keep behind the helm chair. My asking price is
$ 3300.firm plus shipping. I’m willing to deliver the unit to any location within northern New Jersey.

I also have a 25 CC. I have been looking for a life raft. You stated that the one you are selling is too big for your 25......what are you now looking at to replace this one? Valise or calister? Thanks....

          Switlik

          Hi Leterrip
When I was at the NY boat show I spoke to a Dwight Norrgard of Sea Safety International 201-330-3225 Secaucus NJ. He had a 4 man in a canister which weighed around 75 Lbs. I believe the price was around $ 1500. Not 100% sure of the price or the manufacture. It was about half the weight of the Switlik but its not Coast Guard certified. It also came in a valise. The valise was about $ 200 cheaper. I was leaning toward the valise as it would fit behind the helm chair. The Switlik looked great on the hard top but made the boat a little tipsy on the drift and in the marina. I moved it to the foredeck which cut down on the visibility. I ended up getting a large post for the helm chair which helped. I lived with this for two years them removed it completely. I don’t venture that far off shore anymore so I just need a platform to get me out of the water.
