Using a generator

I used my carry on generator this weekend on the boat and when turned it on a light on my switch panel came on that said reverse polarity does any one know what that is and how do I make it not happen.

It sounds like you have 2 wires mixed up. You should have a black, white and green. Try switching the black and white. I assume that you are plugging it into the shore power outlet. Just swap them out in the plug and try it.
