Mac:

Since I have to reassemble my tower and radar array onto the hardtop when my boat comes back north I might as get the radar right this time around.

What's the proper mounting angle for a 4' open array radar. It was previously mounted flat onto the hard top and I noticed that sometimes in heavy conditions with the boat running bow high that I seemed to have about a 1/2 mile blind spot.

Should I be shimming the radar downwards by 4 or 6 degrees to compensate for the boat's running angle?

Hate to say it, but I'm not sure I am qualified to answer that. Maybe some on you other guys could help out.

Backman, the radar should point down about 4 deg when the boat is sitting in the water. Not running

Spoke to my electronics guy, the answer is fairly easy.

The radar transmits at a ten degree angle.

The Radar should be angled when you are in your most likely radar need speed..ie...if your running flat out, you probably don't need your radar. So if you are going to run 1800 rpm's while in fog, you should set your radar to operate at this angle.
