I'm in the process of installing a in hull transducer in my 28 Carolina Classic. If I remove the transom mount ducer I will loose the temp, even though it's not that accurate.

What did you that have done this use for temp?

Also I plan on installing the in hull forward of the stb engine out of the lower bilge. Only one fitting in this area, I guess it's the intake for the head. In the lower trough there seems to be the relocated AC and generator thru hull fitting forward in this area, and I can get back far enough without pulling the engine or losing 100 lbs.

Try one of the Airmar temp probes that connect with a Y adaptor. Then run it aft through the transom at the hose for the trim tab and wiretie it to the trimtab piston.

The Thru hull transducer I have has Temperature built in you should see if you can get the one that does both sounding and temp

IN HULL, no thru hull, so I have to look at something else.

Also called CC about mounting the transducer in front of the STB engine as I originally planned. NO GO

Seems there is a false floor to level out this area. No structural strength just cosmetic. It was suggested to go to the fishboxed and mount it there. Great idea and a whole lot easier to get to.

That's odd, my ducer works great in front of the stbd motor. You'll notice that there is a false floor there but there's plenty of room to mount any in-hull ducer to the outside of the floor on the stbd hull side.
I have an R199 mounted there on the 24 degree deadrise just outside the false floor. It's massive.

Just be aware that the deadrise at that point on the hull is in fact greater than 24 degrees so for the best performance, you will need to cut the box to a steeper angle. I am not sure how much more it can accommodate. The transducer will still work okay but you will not be getting the most out of it if it is not oriented to shoot straight down.

Mounting in the lazarette just forward of the transom is the other location that the factory suggested to me for an M260-- just make sure the transducer is forward of the props. In that location, the deadrise is in fact 24 degrees. The 24 degree specification is deadrise aft at the transom. As you move to the bow, the angle can be much greater depending upon where you are on the hull and how close you are to the keel.

I went with an Airmar T42 high performance "smart sensor" for temperature with my in-hull. It sends a NMEA 0183 temperature data sentence to my NavNet. The advantage of that model is that it responds much faster to changes and is more accurate than the standard version temp sensor. Also if your display can handle it, you see two decimal places, .i.e., "71.84" degrees. Great for finding temp breaks.

Correct it was actually 25.5 degrees at that point of the hull. My R199 came with the tank pre-cut at 25. The inclinometer read 0.5 out of level.
