My Simrad plotter is giving me problems so I am thinking of replacing it with a color unit. Any suggestions as to what will fit in the existing cut out. I like the 7" Sitex unit but I think it might be slightly to big. Boat is a model 2000 25'. Thanks.

I had a 1650 Furuno DGPS/chartplotter that worked out very well. I just replaced it with a Navnet 3D - but it was a great unit. I offered it for sale here - but currently have it on ebay now - so it's no longer available here - but they are great units and fit right into the older "smaller" dash.

As long as your new unit is as larger or larger than your older unit you'll be good. If it is too large for the dash pad you can always enclose the over reach in starboard. No larger than the Furuno 600L is I had to close in the top of that unit with starboard because it was about 1 inch taller than the mounting pad. The Furuno 1850 will fit in with no modifications.
