Will rodholder effect electronic compass

My Simrad electronic compass is located under the gunnel next to the live well. Why I don't know. If I mount a rodholder in the transom it will be very close. Will this be a problem having a chunk of steel next to it? I can only guess it was mounted there to avoid interference in the first place.

The rod holders are stainless and depending on the type of stainless they are made of (some types are magnetic)they should not be magnetic. If a magnet does not stick to them, they will not interfere with the compass.
