fluxgate location on a 25

Whats the best location for a fluxgate (AP) in a 25?

I believe mine is in the storage cabinet in the cabin. Dont they have to be mounted vertically?

The reason I'm asking: I installed a Lewmar v700 windlass, and a short while later, my autopilot quit working. The #6 wire recommended was run along the starboard upper cabin wall (under the little filler/trim piece) and might have been a little close the the fluxgate. Donno... Looked in the cabinet, and under the v-berth storage areas, and don't see the fluxgate. Didn't have but a couple of minutes to look for it before I had to leave...

Simrad support was pretty good in trouble shooting and correcting the problem I had. I disconnected the windlass cables, re-did the dock side settings etc. and had the autopilot working again. I'm pretty sure I'll have to re-locate the fluxgate.
